Obtain Your Customers’ Marketing Opt-in Status

When sending emails to your customers, it’s important to send the right kind of communications to sellers that opt in to them. We’ve added a handy “marketing opt-in” field in our customer list export and in our API, which denotes whether a particular customer has opted in to marketing communications or not. This way, when you’re using the CSV export to market to users about a new promotion, you can make sure to message only the sellers who have opted in to marketing communications (denoted by a value of `true` under the column for marketing_opt_in).

This setting could be updated or changed by each subscriber, so when you export the CSV and import it into MailChimp (or other mailing service of your choice), make sure to keep the most recent data, as that will be the best representation of whether a customer has opted in to communications.
