What kind of security does VHX provide?

How is credit card information transmitted and stored?

VHX does not store or receive any payment information directly. All payment information is kept with our payment provider,  Stripe. You can learn more about security on Stripe here.

How is user information stored inside VHX?

All user data is encrypted and protected in our database which implements continuous protection, high availability, and on-disk encryption. Safety measures include paranoid system configurations, automatic security patch application, regular intrusion tests, and required SSL-encrypted connections.

How is video content stored in VHX?

All video content is stored on AWS Simple Storage (S3). Data access is audited, monitored, and controlled via access control policies. All data access and management is done over an SSL-encrypted connection. Data objects achieve 99.999999999% durability via redundantly stored objects on multiple devices across multiple facilities.

How are video streams secured?

Video streams are protected through a combination of security measures. Video can only be accessed through a SSL-encrypted URL with a self-expiring token/signature. This token is specific to the customer / video and is verified prior to and during video playback. Video access is further protected through rate limiting which monitors the viewer's location and device. If irregular video access is detected, access is automatically disabled.

Does VHX use DRM?

By default, video on VHX is either unencrypted or encrypted with AES (depending on the stream). We are working to add more DRM options soon as part of the enterprise plan.
