How do I setup Custom Domains with Dotster?

If you haven't read our general instructions on  setting up a custom domain, please do so first! This article assumes you have already registered your domain with Dotster.

Connecting a Primary Domain (www.yourdomain.com)

  1. Login to Dotster.com 
  2. Go to "Domain Central" 

  3. Click directly on the domain name from the list that appears
  4. Choose "Nameservers" from the menu that appear directly below your selected domain name

  5. Choose "Use default nameservers" from the two options that appear, click Save 

  6. Click the "DNS" option from the menu that appears directly below your selected domain name 
  7. Choose "CNAME Alias" from the Modify Dropdown
  8. Enter "www" in the Host field and "dns.vhx.tv" in the Points To field, click Add. 

  9. Click the "Pointers" option from the menu that appears directly below your selected domain name
  10. Choose "URL" from the dropdown and enter the WWW version of your domain in the field (i.e. "www.yourdomain.com"), click Save 

  11. In your VHX Admin, go to the "Distribution" section and then "Platforms". Click "Settings" for your website and enter your full Custom Domain - http://www.yourdomain.com/
  12. Click "Test Domain". If your domain is properly connected, click Save and you're all set!

Connecting a Subdomain (watch.yourdomain.com)

  1. Login to Dotster.com 
  2. Go to "Domain Central" 

  3. Click directly on the domain name from the list that appears
  4. Click the "DNS" option from the menu that appears directly below your selected domain name
  5. Choose "CNAME Alias" from the Modify Dropdown
  6. Enter your desired subdomain for "Host" - this can be anything you wish! watch, buy, discover, shop, etc. 
  7. Enter "dns.vhx.tv" in the Points To field, click Add

  8. In your VHX Admin, go to the "Distribution" section and then "Platforms". Click "Settings" for your website and enter your full Custom Domain - http://www.yourdomain.com/
  9. Click "Test Domain". If your domain is properly connected, click Save and you're all set!
